Who Am I?
Hello, I’m Richard Shilling and I am a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. My goal is to provide fun and
creative illustrations & designs at a reasonable cost.

Most of my illustration and design skills knowledge is self-taught. Recently however, I’ve began my formal studies in Animation and Interactive Media at Melbourne RMIT.

Why Do I Bother?
Becoming a professional artist has been somewhat of an inevitability for me. Creating images is something that has been a part of me since I was very young. Sure, I have a multitude of interests; I enjoy learning about archaeology and have a science degree. However, nothing else has been quite as “comfortable” as picking up a pencil and putting my imagination onto paper.

For several years now I have been creating illustrations and designs for various clients, both local and abroad. However after years of sporadic commissions, countless days of job-hunting or less-than-satisfying retail jobs, I have decided to take the plunge and take my first few steps into the professional world of illustration and design.

Why Choose Me?
That’s a good question! Surely there are other artists out there with more experience and credentials out there. But they had to start somewhere, just like me. All you have to know is this:

I chose this path because it is something I feel I will be great at.
